 Geothermal may prove to be more efficient means  than solar whereas solar energy may be in turn a better option than wind.  Fusion however, that is likely 30 years away, as it   always seems to be. Huge satellites  built to collect amounts of sunlight and beaming the energy to Earth as solar panels are an idea of fantastic proportions, but sufficient quantities of sunlight gets through the atmosphere to turn them unpractical. There are a range of other technologies but they amount to such small scale possibilities that they are generally ignored on a societal level, remaining the sole occupation of mad scientists and the likes.
